Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one coaching sessions to help clients identify goals and develop actionable plans.
  • Facilitate workshops and group sessions focused on life skills such as communication, time management, decision-making, and problem-solving.
  • Assess clients’ strengths and challenges to tailor coaching strategies to their individual needs.
  • Support clients in building confidence, self-esteem, and resilience.
  • Monitor progress and adjust coaching techniques as necessary to ensure effectiveness.
  • Provide resources and tools to assist clients in overcoming obstacles and achieving their goals.
  • Maintain accurate records of client sessions and progress reports.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, such as therapists or educators, to provide comprehensive support.
  • Stay updated on best practices and trends in life coaching and personal development.

Tasks

  • Prepare reports or case histories
  • Appraise clients’ needs or eligibility for specific services
  • Perform administrative tasks
  • Implement life skills workshops
  • Liaise with the inmates’ families and contacts in the community
  • Assess client’s relevant skill strengths and development needs
  • Resolve conflict situations
  • Supervise activities of clients living in group homes and half-way houses
  • Implement behaviour management programs
  • Liaise with other social services agencies and health care providers involved with clients
  • Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of treatment programs
  • Assist clients/guests with special needs
  • Accompany clients to appointments and social outings

Credentials

Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses

  • Developmental services worker (DSW) Training
  • Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate
  • First Aid Certificate
  • CPR Certificate

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Previous experience in coaching, counseling, or mentorship.

  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of personal development techniques and resources.
  • Certification in life coaching or related fields is a plus.
