The Construction Helper will assist construction workers in a variety of tasks related to building, renovation, and maintenance projects. This role requires physical stamina, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work as part of a team.

 Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist skilled tradespeople, including carpenters, electricians, and plumbers, with their tasks.
  • Prepare job sites by cleaning and organizing materials and tools.
  • Load and unload materials and equipment.
  • Follow instructions from supervisors and contribute to the completion of projects.
  • Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
  • Perform basic construction tasks, such as measuring, cutting, and assembling materials.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Assist with the installation of fixtures, drywall, insulation, and other building materials.
  • Help with demolition and site cleanup as needed.

Tasks

  • Load, unload and transport construction materials
  • Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks shoring and barricades
  • Mix, pour and spread materials such as concrete and asphalt
  • Assist in framing houses, erecting walls and building roofs
  • Level earth to fine grade specifications
  • Assist in demolishing buildings
  • Clean and pile salvaged materials
  • Perform routine maintenance work
  • Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites
  • Tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction
  • Direct traffic at or near construction sites

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience in construction or a related field is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge of construction tools and safety practices.
  • Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy materials and work in various weather conditions.

Skills:

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Problem-solving abilities.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.

Working Conditions:

  • May require working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Potential for exposure to loud noises and heavy machinery.
  • Requires physical labor, including lifting, standing, and bending for extended periods.
