Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment Support: Assist in the recruitment process, including posting job openings, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and conducting reference checks.
  • Onboarding: Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires, including preparing orientation materials and ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed.
  • Employee Records: Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, including personal information, attendance, and performance evaluations.
  • Training and Development: Coordinate training sessions and professional development programs; track employee participation and progress.
  • Policy Implementation: Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures; ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations.
  • Employee Relations: Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries, addressing concerns and promoting a positive workplace culture.
  • Benefits Administration: Help manage employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave management.
  • Reporting: Prepare HR reports and metrics for management to assist in decision-making.

Tasks

  • Plan, develop, implement and evaluate human resources policies and programs
  • Advise managers and employees on the interpretation of human resources policies, benefit programs and collective agreements
  • Mediate labour disputes and grievances
  • Research and prepare occupational classifications, job descriptions and salary scales
  • Administer benefit employment equity and other human resources programs
  • Co-ordinate employee performance and appraisal programs
  • Manage training and development strategies
  • Research employee benefits and health and safety practices and recommend changes
  • Hire, train and supervise staff
  • Negotiate collective agreements on behalf of employers or workers

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience in an HR role or internship is a plus.
  • Familiarity with HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) and basic labor laws.

Skills:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
  • Proficiency in office software, including word processing and spreadsheet applications.

Working Conditions:

  • Typically works in an office environment during regular business hours.
  • May require occasional overtime during peak hiring periods or special projects.
