The Truck Driver is responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently from one location to another. This role requires adherence to all safety regulations and company policies while ensuring timely delivery and maintaining the vehicle.

 Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transport Goods: Drive and operate a commercial truck to transport various types of cargo to designated locations.
  • Route Planning: Plan and follow the most efficient routes to ensure timely deliveries while considering traffic conditions and regulations.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle; perform routine maintenance and report any mechanical issues.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations; maintain a clean driving record.
  • Documentation: Keep accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and fuel usage; complete necessary paperwork and reports.
  • Customer Interaction: Communicate with dispatchers, clients, and other stakeholders; provide excellent customer service during deliveries.
  • Loading and Unloading: Assist with loading and unloading cargo, ensuring proper handling and securing of items.
  • Fuel Management: Manage fuel efficiency by monitoring consumption and refueling as needed.

Tasks

  • Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
  • Load and unload goods
  • Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
  • Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
  • Perform brake adjustments
  • Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
  • Receive and relay information to central dispatch
  • Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
  • Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo

Qualifications:

  • Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with the appropriate endorsements.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification may be preferred.
  • Previous experience as a truck driver is an asset.
  • Good knowledge of the local area and highway systems.

Skills:

  • Strong driving skills and ability to operate large vehicles.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Good communication skills for interacting with clients and dispatch.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions on the road.

Working Conditions:

  • Long hours on the road, including nights and weekends.
  • May require extended periods away from home, depending on delivery routes.
  • Physical demands include lifting and securing cargo.
